He is the IAG Chair of Risk in Smart Cities, the Director of the Research Centre for Integrated Transport Innovation (rCITI) as well as the Director of the Travel Choice Simulation Laboratory (TRACSLab).

Professor Dixit has worked, for example, with the US Department of Transportation, the Government of India, the NSW Department of Premier & Cabinet, NSW Department of Planning & Environment as well as Transport for NSW on aspects related to emergency evacuation and planning.

His projects have been funded by the Australian Research Council, United States National Science Foundation, as well as transportation agencies across the world including Australia, US, Indonesia, India and UAE.
